Service Catalogue of the German Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (BVK)

OBJECTIVES

Creating the best possible conditions for the private equity industry

That can be achieved through:

  • Boosting appreciation of the industry’s activities among policy-makers, businesses, the media and the general public.
  • For this reason, BVK cooperates closely with policymakers, businesses, the media, and universities as well as with associations nationally and internationally.

KEY TASKS OF THE ASSOCIATION

In order to offer its members the best possible representation, BVK performs the following functions:

POLITICAL COMMUNICATION / LOBBYING

We maintain personal contact with:

  • Bundestag representatives, especially members of financial and economic committees of all parties, with a focus on members of the governing coalition
  • Representatives of the Federal Ministry of Finance (BMF), Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF)
  • Representatives of the German Chancellor’s Office and the German President’s Office
  • Political party-related associations and institutions like the CDU Economic Board, the CDU Association of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (MIT Deutschland), and the Managers’ Circle of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
  • We actively participate in the legislative process by contributing proposals and statements.
  • Strategic objective for policy-related communication in the next legislative period (17th election period): Creation of a legal capital market framework for the German private equity industry

TARGET GROUP-SPECIFIC COMMUNICATION SERVICES

Towards policy-makers, small and medium sized enterprises, employers, as well as a broad general public. Communication focuses on positive examples of our members’ investment activity.

  • "PRIVATE EQUITY BRIEF": Bimonthly printed newsletter for the policy-making sector, with case studies and current subjects, data, and facts concerning the private equity industry
  • Events on the subject of private equity organised for members, political and economic decision-makers and the interested public

  • Seminars for journalists
  • Organisation of background discussions and roundtable talks with journalists
  • Annual allocation of the "BVK Journalist’s Prize" in various categories

  • Frequent meetings of specialised groups, workshops and conferences on all subjects relevant to the industry.
  • Example: Cleantech platform

Training seminars for members:

  • Extensive educational offerings, with a focus on German private equity dealings. These offerings supplement the seminars offered by the EVCA (European Private Equity and Venture Capital Association)
  • Annual "Private Equity Day" ("Eigenkapitaltag") event

  • Biannual private equity dinner in Berlin

OUR SERVICES FOR MEMBERS

Membership with BVK as a quality seal: BVK members can include a statement in their communications that they follow the "BVK Professional Standards". These are comprised of the BVK code of conduct and the EVCA guidelines (governing principles, reporting guidelines, corporate governance guidelines, international private equity and venture capital valuation guidelines), which BVK has officially adopted.
